Writer/Producer, Christopher C. Odom, Talks About His Film, "23rd Psalm: Redemption".

post image Christopher C. Odom is the writer, director and producer of the independent film, "23rd Psalm: Redemption."

During the spring, “23rd Psalm: Redemption” won second place in the Wilmington North Carolina Black Film Festival, and screened to packed houses at festivals in Berlin and Cannes “23rd Psalm: Redemption” has found a home! The film was picked up for national release in North America by Entertainment One. It is now available for rental, DVD, on-demand, and streaming video at Redbox, Netflix, Walmart Vudu, Target, iTunes, Amazon, and Blockbuster, among other places.

Although Entertainment One is an excellent distribution resource, “23rd Psalm: Redemption” is still an independent film, in a crowded marketplace, and it’s going to take a down-home, grass roots effort to get the word out and showcase everyone’s hard work on this very special project.

It was shot entirely in Nashville, starring Markhum Stansbury, Jr. and Mister Jones, the film features Tatyani Ali (Ashley from Academy Award Nominee Wil Smith's "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"), Clifton Powell (Academy Award Winner Jamie Foxx's sidekick in "Ray"), Leslie Mills (Emmy Nominated Songwriter), and Jason Burkey ("October Baby"). The film also features music from Leslie Mills, Leslie A. Jones & Right Hand Rule, and Jesse & Alex Santoyo.

Criminal Justice Professor and Former US Special Agent, David Long, Talks About the Failed War on Drugs

post image David M. Long served for nearly nine years as a special agent with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General, Division of Labor Racketeering, working union corruption and related organized crime cases in Florida. Later, he transferred to Los Angeles where he began investigating identity theft cases tied to the Mexican Mafia. In Los Angeles, he also sat on a joint task force investigating Asian organized crime and human trafficking.

As a federal agent, David began to see the unmistakable link of how the drug trade fueled, funded, and helped to facilitate crimes he investigated. It became clear to David that many of the weapons and much of the money funding these crimes could be traced to the illegal drug trade.

As a professor of criminal justice and legal studies, David became convinced that the “War on Drugs” is an unsound policy and is, in fact, doing great harm to our society in many ways. As a professor, David began to notice and conduct research into how our nation’s drug policies lead to prison overcrowding and a disconnect in our social priorities.

“It has become clear to me that while we fill our prisons with low-level drug offenders, the illegal drug trade, drug abuse and addiction continue in the face of the “War on Drugs.” Until drugs are legalized and addiction and abuse are treated first and foremost as public health issues, the nation will face continuing problems resulting from overcrowded criminal dockets, overcrowded prisons, deaths as a result of drug overdosing, street violence, the spread of diseases, ruined lives, and lost potential.”

Palestine Today, Welcomes Journalist and Truth Teller, Alan Hart

post image Alan Hart has been engaged with events in the Middle East and their global consequences and terrifying implications for more than 40 years

He has worked as a correspondent covering wars and conflict, for ITN’s News At Ten and the BBC’s Panorama programme.

In 1980, Mr. Hart was intimately involved in negotiations, serving as a covert diplomat in conflict resolution, between Arafat and Peres.

He has worked as a researcher and author. His 2nd book explains why it is difficult to impossible for any Israeli prime minister, even a rational, well-motivated one, to make peace on any terms the Palestinians can accept. His latest book: Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews.

Mr. Hart has had one on one private conversations with leaders on both both sides of the conflict. With, for example, Golda Meir, Mother Israel, and Yasser Arafat, Father Palestine. From these private conservations, Alan, has heard the truth of what leaders really believed and feared as opposed to what they said in public for propaganda and myth-sustaining purposes.

Alan has long believed that what peacemaking needs above all else is some TRUTH-TELLING, specifically, with regards to the Israel/Palestine conflict, truth telling, with regards to the difference between Zionist mythology and real history, and, the difference between Judaism and Zionism.

Thus, Alan Hart, believes that it is perfectly possible to be passionately anti-Zionist (anti Zionism’s colonial enterprise, that is) without being in any way, shape or form anti-Semitic.

Mr. Hart's last piece: Farewell Israel: myth and reality: http://www.alanhart.net/farewell-israel-myth-and-reality/
